C4 HISTORY IN THE MAKING ‘ THE NEW LIVE MORNING LINE"
HORSERACING TEAM TODAY ARE:

HOST NICK (Lord Snooty) LUCK in the C4 STUDIO this morning
REVIEW: Nick takes us cantering through the key news hitting the headlines over the past

GUEST STAR: WILLIAM HAGGAS  BLOODHORSE LITERATE
William Haggas, son-in-law of Lester Piggott, realised his greatest training achievement when winning the Vodafone Derby with Shaamit in 1996 who quite remarkably was running in his first race as a three-year-old. He spent time with John Winter and Sir Mark Prescott before taking up his own license and training his first winner in 1987. He has trained a number of successful horses including Cheveley Park's Chorist, Superstar Leo, Yeast and High Low.

William has been a trainer for Highclere since 1991 and has trained a number of very successful horses including Brunel, winner of the German 2000 Guineas and the Topkapi Trophy in Istanbul in 2005; Conquest, winner of the Gimcrack Stakes (Group2) and Collection, winner of the Hampton Court (Listed) at the Royal Meeting last year. Collection went on to win the Hong Kong Derby in 2009. In 2010 William guided Approve to multiple Group winning success before the colt was sold for stud duties in Ireland.

HOST: MIKE (Cat) CATTERMOLE OUT AND ABOUT ON THE TRACK AT NEWCASTLE this morning to check out the going and to introduce us to IAN SMITH top right hand man to trainer Michael Bell (Newmarket). IAN is responsible for all runners travelling to the racecourses, to care for their welfare and needs whilst on a racecourse, and to make sure that they travel and get back home safely afterwards. IAN is caring for ACTIVATE this day, due to run in the feature race, the 3.05 John Smith’s Northumberland Plate over two miles, to be partnered by HAYLEY TURNER, a great little rider.  There are 18 other competitors to beat. But can HAYLEY win with ACTIVATE? A four year old gelding to carry 9 stone, can she keep ACTIVATE free from any and all interference? Will IAN be travelling home with the winner of £92,475 Ninety two thousand, four hundred and seventy five pounds this evening?

RACING POST ON THE LAST DAY
OF ROYAL ASCOT SATURDAY JUNE 18th 2011

GO FOR IT HUGHESIE!  “After going agonisingly close last year, Richard Hughes is determined to hold on to his lead in the race to be Royal Ascot top jockey – and he fancies his chances ....

READ RICHARD HUGHES EVERY SATURDAY IN THE RACING POST.
This day Richard tells us -  “Finishing top jockey would be the icing on the cake.

“IT SEEMS greedy to ask for more given the week I’ve had, but it would be something special to end Royal Ascot as the meeting’s top jockey. I’ve led the leading riders’ race more than once in the past, including last year when RYAN MOORE mugged me on the line by winning the very last race . This time I hope I can get my revenge.”  Can Richard win this much sort after crown to-day?

GRAHAM DENCH, BRINGS US TODAY’S BIG TALKING POINT
 FOR THE RACING POST.
“HOOF IT (4 9-6) partner KIEREN FALLON, (trip 6f)
hotly fancied to end Mick’s long wait ....

“It is 35 long years ago since Mick Easterby saddled his one and only Royal Ascot winner,
yet bookmakers had no hesitation in making his HOOF IT favourite for today’s Wokingham Stakes (4.25) when the entries were first revealed. Nothing has displaced him yet ......  Owned by A Chandler and L Westwood, what a day in store, will he, won't he, can he?

Going stated to be soft this day, will HOOF IT cope with this? Will HOOF IT cope with the other 27 runners?  Can Kieren keep him out of trouble?

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT  WHIP ISSUES ROYAL ASCOT
WAS FRANKIE DETTORI partner REWILDING'S PERFORMANCE AT ROYAL ASCOT  on Wednesday June 15th in the 3.45 Prince of Wales Stakes when they only just managed by a head to deny  SO YOU THINK his place in the winners enclosure, riding of supreme artistry? Or one of diabolical cruelty? Or one more like a miss mash of both?

How exactly did the acting stewards that day perceive this to be exactly?

Why is there no definate analysis of how these acting stewards come to their conclusions ?

What are the exact reasons as to why Frankie got 9 days off?

How many times did these stewards actually see FRANKIE'S whip coming into contact with REWILDINGS body?

Was FRANKIE using his whip along side REWILDING swinging it backwards and forwards without actually touching REWILDING as a way of communication to REWILDING  the urgency to give his all?

STAR WITNESS (AUS) FACTFILE
4 ch c Starcraft (NZ) - Leone Chiara (AUS) (Lion Hunter (AUS))  Form: 1/1103412-30 Owner: Widden Stud Trainer: Danny O’Brien (AUS)
Breeder: Alma Vale Bloodstock Pty Ltd Jockey: Steven Arnold

STAR WITNESS FINISHED THIRD TODAY TO SOCIETY ROCK AND MONSIEUR CHEVALIER.
STAR WITNESS became the first Group One winner for the 2005 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes victor Starcraft when posting a head verdict in the sixfurlong Diamond Stakes at Caulfield on February 20, 2010. The four-year-old is the only runner to date for the former top class sprinting mare

Leone Chiara, who was successful in Group Three company and is a full-sister to Group winners Chinchilla Rose and Ferocity. Star Witness was sold to Danny O’Brien for AUS$150,000 at the 2009 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, and he made an impressive start to his career, following up a debut victory at Moonee Valley on November 28, 2009, with a ready success in a Flemington Listed contest in January, 2010.

He subsequently registered a first Group One success in the Diamond Stakes but trailed in 12th on his final juvenile appearance in the Group Two Todman Stakes at Rosehill in March, 2010. Star Witness kicked off the 2010/2011 season by taking third in an extended five-furlong Listed contest at Caulfield in August.

After finishing fourth behind Black Caviar in the six-furlong Group Two Schillaci Stakes at the same course on October 9, Star Witness registered his second Group One success as he powered clear of his rivals for a two-length success in the Coolmore Stud Stakes over six furlongs at Flemington on October 30.

He re-opposed Black Caviar in the Patinack Farm Classic, also over six furlongs at
Flemington, on November 6 and lost little in defeat by coming home second, four lengths behind the outstanding sprinter. Star Witness was given a break and returned to action when
taking third in a Sandown Listed contest over an extended six furlongs on February 9.

He was purchased by Widden Stud shortly after that run to stand at their New South Wales operation and made his final start ahead of Royal Ascot when finishing seventh behind Black Caviar in the six-furlong Group One Newmarket Handicap at Flemington on Mar
