November 2nd 2010: “Jimbo has resigned from the British Horseracing Authority Board as an independent director, saying he is angry and concerned with many of the changes proposed, and due to be implemented , by Racing for Change. The decision brings to an end a five-year stint as an independent director.


In a statement, McGrath said: "After considerable thought, and effective from October 31, (2010) I resigned from my position as one of two independent directors on BHA.


"For more than a year I was tasked by the board of chairing the Racing Committee, which of course deals with much of the minutia of our racing.


"As such, I found myself completely at odds with most of the recommendations and proposed changes affecting the 2011 racing programme, suggested and due to be implemented by RFC.

David Pipe was born to train racehorses. Son of Martin Pipe CBE, fifteen times champion National Hunt trainer, and the most successful racehorse trainer in British racing history, David fast carved a niche for himself as an extremely successful and talented Point-to-Point trainer. Indeed, during his six seasons as a trainer of Pointers, David amassed no fewer than 164 winners (including 47 Point-to-Points and two Hunter Chases in his final season) – each weekend he seemed to return with a winner!


David talks us through his horses, hopes and fears for next weeks challenges at the Cheltenham Festival.

Since his father’s retirement from training at the end of April 2006, David has channelled his talents towards the Pond House string – a role which has provided a varied, challenging and rewarding role alongside his record-breaking father who now occupies the position of assistant trainer.

THE LATE DAVID  (The Duke) NICHOLSON (19 March 1939 - 27 August 2006) was a British National Hunt jockey and trainer. He was British jump racing Champion Trainer in the 1993-94 and 1994-95 seasons. The son of 'Frenchie' Nicholson who was also a successful jockey and National Hunt trainer. As a young lad Nicholson was christened 'The Duke' by one of his father's grooms It is a nickname that is still used to this day to describe him.
