Hannon Team fighting shy of dream

“It’s wise to wait until the first
leg has been won before discussing the second, but those who have researched
the subject properly (me) are in no doubt Toronado would be a live contender
for jump racing’s blue riband, as well as Flat racing’s blue riband, coming up
soon at Epsom.

January 19. If you haven’t seen the race, you’re not really qualified to
comment on Toronado’s future prospects. If you have (I have), you are.

“At the yearling sales, I wonder if
someone stood next to Sheikh Khaled Duaij Al Sabah, Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum
and Nurlam Bizakov and said: “That’s great value, sir,” or if the prospective
owners, unconstrained by considerations of value, just pointed and said: “I’ll
have that one.”
“To be fair, it looked an above
average Class 5 maiden, and Shaishee and Hanzada will probably win one of their
own soon, or something better. The trouble is, when you pay more than £200,000
for a yearling it does have to be quite a lot better to make financial sense.
“Racegoers at Lingfield were able
to watch the race on a big screen but those at Yarmouth
and Bath that day were not so fortunate, and
neither were those, including this one, at Worcester

give Ed Walker his first winner of the season in the 3.20pm at Thirsk. He’ll be

Plus Flat racehorses who may at a later date move on to Jump Racing when they are older. Richard Hannon is a Flat trainer. David clearly believes TORONADO may train on to become a top jumper in the future.
