REVIEW  FEATURE RACE FRIDAY MARCH 18, 2016.
WIN:: Don Cossack (GER) 9 11-10 partner  BJ Cooper Handler Presenter Louise Dunn, Team (Gordon) Elliott (IRE) for Gigginstown House Stud. A fabulous performance from Don Cossack who was beautifully prepared and presented by Louise Dunn.

JMC: THE financial greed of Cheltenham racecourse in denying Louise Dunn her true handler rider copyright status fee of £200.00  two hundred pounds per hour, whilst travelling and working on their racecourse in presenting Don Cossack to the media defies all belief. A criminal act.

Ruby Walsh says about Vautour  “We have had a fair battle with him since Christmas. “ Willie Mullins just gets it right doesn’t he. “
JMC: People who enjoy going horseracing for whatever reason in the main, have absolutely no idea of what it takes at home to prepare these horses, some are not at all easy to prepare which clearly has and  is the case with Vautour. Care not to over face them. To ask just that little bit too much can take their confidence away

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT

JMC: Turf ground conditions on the take - off and landing – side of each fence by the fourth day of a meeting such as this will have become cut up, slippery and dangerously pitted for horses to land on, or to take off from.  These unforgiving old purpose chase fences still being used by Cheltenham racecourse all need to be removed and replaced by chase fences that look the same but don’t kill horses if they make a mistake, or are forced into making a mistake by other runners.
Cue Card took the full force of hitting this fence low down, on his chest, nearly taking this fence out by it’s roots. Causing him to get an awkward heavy fall.  The problem is that this fence never had any roots. It has not been changed much, if at all over the last century.  We were not shown the pictures of the take- off side of this fence. As neither were we shown any aerial pics. From the take- off side of this fence causing Cue Card to fail to pitch his jump high enough, causing the heavy, savage fall we saw him struggling with.
As he was skewed over on his left side, sliding along the top of the fence causing him to land in a heap on the other side of this fence., he will have bruising but it might not show.

GOWRAN TODAY:
“It’s back to bread- and-butter stuff at Gowran Park today, with only two runners - Henry Howard  in the 2m4f maiden hurdle (2.45) and Verawal in the handicap hurdle over the same trip (3.20).

HENRY HOWARD:
WM: Henry Howard, was beaten a long way on his two previous starts.

VERAWAL
A pic: of Verawal –   WM: Verawal is exposed and, while we’re hoping for a good run, he’s probably more of a summer horse.
3.20: TJ Reid & Ashgrove Stables Handicap Hurdle 2m4f
