C4 HISTORY IN THE MAKING THE NEW LIVE MORNING LINE
HORSERACING TEAM TODAY ARE:

MORNING LINE STAR GUEST HARRY HERBERT, takes us on a magical mystery tour,  an adventure into the part his family have played ongoing over decades within the sport of horseracing world wide.

"HIGHCLERE  specialises in putting together small groups of individuals to share in a number of top quality racehorses. This enables the shareowner to enjoy racing at the highest level, without the very high costs normally associated with owning racehorses. Perhaps even more crucially, it gives our shareowners a significantly greater chance of success. Indeed, since its creation in 1992, some fourteen per cent of Highclere's runners have won or been placed in Group or Listed company, making Highclere the most successful multiple ownership company in Europe.

A large part of our success has been due to the selection process employed for purchasing yearlings. Since 1992 John Warren (Harry's sister Caroline's husband) has purchased all of Highclere's yearlings. John is one of the leading agents in the world, and has produced no fewer than seven champions in Lake Coniston, Tamarisk, Delilah, Petrushka, Motivator (the Royal Ascot Racing Club's winner of the 2005 Vodafone Derby), Memory (ROA Champion 2YO Filly) and Harbinger.

“Just as important as the level of success of our horses is the level of service we offer to our shareowners. Our objective is to provide everyone with a personal level of service that is unrivalled in the racing industry and to feel as if he or she is the sole owner of their horses.”

SIMON HOLT CALLING THE HORSES
Broadcaster. Bloodhorse illiterate
Simon became a racecourse commentator in 1988, and made his TV debut for Channel 4 on 30 September 1994 at Newmarket.

“Holt became the main commentator from the beginning of 2000, and his first meeting as Channel 4's senior race-caller came at Uttoxeter for the 'new millennium's first race-meeting'. He only covered the Derby and Oaks once for Channel 4, however, before BBC Sport took over coverage from Epsom in 2001. He has continued to cover many important events including the Cheltenham Festival, 1,000 and 2,000 Guineas, St Leger, King George VI Chase and, from 2007, Glorious Goodwood. He also called the Irish Derby once (in 2000 when Sinndar triumphed as RTE used the BBC's Jim McGrath to call the race in the absence of Tony O'Hehir), as well as the 2001 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe when the TV rights briefly transferred from the BBC to Channel 4. PAUSE FOR THOUGHT

"Bring along the babies ...." Monty Roberts  terms the handling, minding and  the riding away of yearlings and two year olds.

The people who have achieved bloodhorse literacy at the highest level are the only ones able to tackle this part of a young animal's progression toward competing in a race such as this Sprint this afternoon, where it can be noted that many have already had several runs and several wins.

These races are very interesting to watch as they show observer's how well these young colts and fillies are getting along in practice, away from home, in the early days of their careers. Watch this race and pick out one or two to put in your note book, together with the reasons that they caught your eye.
