ALEX SALMOND Scotland's First Minister brings perhaps a small political vote of confidence this morning. But will he, Sir George Young, and Rachel Hood be enough to address the shockingly out of order and grossly misunderstood world of horseracing within Parliament?

“HILLS to bow out at York: Son Charlie will take over the reins from veteran trainer . By DAVID AUGUST 9th August 2011.
Hills snr, 74, who began his training career in 1969 from the proceeds of a hugely successful punt on Frankincense in the previous year’s Lincoln, trained 10 Classic winners with Ghanaati’s 1,000 Guineas win in 2009 being the most recent.
However, he will stay managing director of the family company.
He said: ‘Therefore I’m not retiring as such, but consider the time is now right for Charles to take over. At 32 he’s old enough. I was the same age when I started.’

“THE HOTTEST MAIDEN IN TOWN on this day last year the world’s best two year old colt made his debut in a maiden at Newmarket, beating another brilliant Group 1 this season by half a length. HEADLINE “Johnson banned for four years ……
J MARGARET CLARKE TURFCALL
The British Horseracing Authority Regulation take the view that their business, their duty even, is to condemn but never to guide. Exactly the same as successive governments in this country. Creating dangerous pockets of VOID.
We see David Cameron (a very wealthy young man himself) in the main taking all the light from Nick Clegg who he shoves into the background, an apt name for such behaviour ‘ Bully boy tactic’s.’
We note that Cameron has never lived in poverty, so has no place to stand up publically and hypocritically lay down the law to the poor, whilst the greedy bankers’ receive all the financial help they need ongoing over decades, and centuries.
Only a few years back now there was a service held in Westminster Abbey to celebrate the abolition of the slave trade. A service attended by those who are stated to be, ‘ the great and the good’ . Whatever that is supposed to mean …. Perhaps this year 2011 all the people who live in dire poverty need to be termed as slaves to poverty, slaves to Cameron, slaves to the bankers and the like.

“HOWARD JOHNSON ‘S reputation as one of jump racing’s most successful trainers lay in tatters last night after he was hit with a four- year ban for breaching horse-welfare rules and for drug offences. County Durham –based Johnson, who has denied nine charges, described his disqualification as “a massive shock,” and said he was retiring with immediate effect. The multiple Cheltenham Festival –winning trainer, famed for his association with triple Ladbrokes World Hurdle here INGLIS DREVER, learned his fate when the outcome of the British Horseracing Authority Regulation (BHAR) inquiry was finally announced after a delay of ten days. Leading owner Graham Wylie, Johnson’s biggest patron, claimed his friend had been treated ‘like a criminal’, and reacted to the result by insisting he would be drastically cutting back his racing interests. The two men plan to meet on Monday to discuss the future of the millionaire entrepreneur’s string of around 50 horses in training with Johnson, and another 18 stores, but it appears the majority will be heading to the sales.”
