JOHN (Mac) McCRIRICK Out of the saddle introducing us to some fascinating people. Yesterday to Ronnie Corbett who told us he fancied CINDERS AND ASHES who won the 1.30 first race at 10-1.
LESLEY GRAHAM Out of the saddle, introduces us to Simon Claise the Clerk of the Course to check out the going conditions for this afternoon, and meets up with Noel Meade (IRE) trainer who runs MONKSLAND in the 2.05 Novice Hurdle. 19 runners in this, among which is Nicky Henderson trained SIMONSIG. Nicky tells us SIMONSIG has shown tremendous speed and talent and is seriously good. He was a bit sloppy with his jumping at times at Kelso, but perhaps I'd taken that for granted because he had been so good previously. Barry schooled him last week and he was electric. Barry's gut feeling is to go for this race."
BRENDAN POWELL JNR (5) In and out of the saddle

In the saddle this afternoon he partners DARK AND DANGEROUS (IRE) 4 11-0 for his Dad, trainer Brendan Powell and owners North South Alliance in the 4.40 Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap Hurdle over 2m. 24 run so young Brendan will need to concentrate in every which way to keep DARK AND DANGEROUS out of trouble to be able to score here.
