"Once
again we have one of those days when the weather is going to play a pivotal part in the outcome of the feature races .....
RIPON
is expecting to see plenty of rain before the start of its
William
Hill Great St Wilfred meeting and that will play havoc
with
the best-laid plans of many because on very soft ground
those
drawn low on the far side can be at a big advantage.

WINDS OF CHANGE
FOR THE
CH4 HORSERACING TEAM
(Morning

IMG takes over C4 Racing coverage from Highflyer
http://www.televisual.com/news-detail/IMG-takes-over-C4-Racing-coverage-from-Highflyer_nid-1909.html
"Channel 4 has awarded IMG Sports Media the four-year
production contract for the corporation's horseracing coverage, which will be
presented by Clare Balding from January. The move brings to an end 18 years of
production by Highflyer TV."
Lee Mottershead
"Difficult period" for
Highflyer staff as they begin farewell broadcasts.
"JOHN FAIRLEY, founder and driving
force of Channel 4 Racing's soon-to-be ousted production company
Highflyer, yesterday admitted that the
organisation's staff face a "very difficult period" as they today
begin the first of their farewell broadcasts.
"Channel 4 announced on Monday that
IMG Sports Media would from 2013 deliver its exclusive four-year terrestrial contract,
with coverage of key days to be hosted
by BBC anchor Clare Balding and produced by long-term BBC stalwart Carl Hicks.
"Fairley said: It will be a very difficult period for everyone as some people
know they won't be working after the end
of the year and most of the rest aren't sure. They are coping with great
personal uncertainty, having given tremendous service and taken Channel 4 to
the position where it could credibly bid for all of racing's terrestrial rights.
"Alice Plunkett, who has shared
jumps season presenting duties with Alastair Down will not be part of
Highflyer's final Channel 4 programmes.
"She said "I'm due to give
birth on October 25th and so very sadly
I won't get the opportunity to work with
the brilliant Highflyer team again.
"I'm sure that IMG will do a great job and its hugely important that Clare Balding will continue to present
racing as she raises the sport's profile. I would be delighted if I was offered
a job and it would be great if I was able to carry on with Channel 4."
