RP TODAY'S BIG TALKING POINT
BOUGHT TO US BY THE CHAMPION HORSERACING JOURNALIST

A must read
Lee Mottershead on a standout day that heralds a series of winter jumping treats .

"IN ITSELF it is a spellbinding treat, a showdown between three young stars with the world at their feet, but it is so much more than that. On this eagerly awaited afternoon we will savour today but eagerly anticipate the tomorrows that are to come.

"For more than half a century, this has been the race that has truly marked the season's start. Much has happened to this point, with the Charlie Hall, Haldon Gold Cup and Down Royal already behind us, yet there is a sense it is only today, as the field for the Paddy Power Gold Cup departs to an incomparable Cheltenham roar, that amber completely turns to green

All the work at home that goes into preparing these racehorses
for competition on the racetracks around the world, a massive work of art
that few ever come to realise or understand.

TOM SCUDAMORE the superstar guest on C4 the Morning Line today was asked about the winning ride he had at Cheltenham yesterday aboard Dynamic DYNASTE, and how riding DYNASTE was different from partnering GRANDS CRUS. TOM said  "DYNASTE is athletic and settled to ride," making his job in the saddle uncomplicated.  That GRANDS CRUS challenging  with TOM for the Paddy Power feature race at 2.35 this afternoon is not such a straight forward horse to ride, he is keen, takes a grip - pulls,  the knack being to sit quiet and let the horse organise himself, allowing GRANDS CRUE to find his stride, and then to settle within his stride and in so doing allow him to feel at ease and confident.

"Fasten your seatbelts"

"Get that engine running "
