REVIEW YESTERDAY'S RESULTS
PREVIEW TODAY'S CARDS
12.45 INTERMEDIATE HURDLE
9 hurdles over 2m
WIN: ROLLING STAR (FR) partner BARRY GERAGHTY for TEAM
HENDERSON. Held up off the pace early, effort 2 out drew clear to win. 5-2.
CH4 MORNING LINE GUEST yesterday TOM SCUDAMORE won the
2.25 Handicap Hurdle aboard
GEVREY CHAMBERTIN (FR) 5 11-7 partner TOM SCUDAMORE for David Pipe at 6-1 just, from UTOPIE DES BORDERS partner BARRY GERAGHTY for TEAM HENDERSON 14-1.
3.00. Feature Race Haydock Park
WIN: CUE CARD (GB) 7 11-7 partner JOE TIZZARD . TEAM (Colin) TIZZARD handler presenter DANNI JONES for Mrs Jean R Bishop 9-1. Distance 4+ lengths
RP Rating 185.
Mattie Batchelor for CH4 Morning
Line Preview yesterday, took us to meet up with the Tizzards at their Home Farm in Dorset where all the work is done every day to get these
horses prepared for competition in jump races.
Colin's Son JOE TIZZARD partner CUE CARD gave us a
brilliant display of jumping yesterday afternoon, to win this race in soft
testing ground giving us a highly polished performance. The work that has gone
on every day in the background over years to bring Cue Card to this peak, is massive,
make no mistake about that. PLUS Cue Card looks like he is quite a small horse
with the spring of a leopard, and a pounce that devourers the ground like it isn't there. Light as a feather. Joe's Dad, trainer Colin
Tizzard mentioned to
CH4 Nick Luck after this race that there are only two
people who ever ride Cue Card. JOE TIZZARD
and CUE CARD are a highly tuned double act. In tune with each other to perform
as this yesterday. Confident slick and spot on over these big fences, make no mistake the concentration involved to tackle these big chase fences all part of these jump races. Very different to Flat races and even Hurdle races are nothing in comparison to these Chases where one
slight mistake on either part can mean disaster. JMC
CH4 MORNING LINE GUEST yesterday TOM SCUDAMORE gave DYNASTE 7 11-7 a great ride to finish 2nd to CUE CARD for David Pipe at 11-2. With SILVINIACO CONTE and NOEL FEHILY in touch all the way. taking third for trainer Paul Nicholls at 7-2
Ch4 Nick Luck later caught up with Nicky Henderson as well. Brave Team Henderson in defeat, disappointment
for both BOBS WORTH- BARRY GERAGHTY, and
LONG RUN -SAM WALEY-COHEN. There can only
ever be one winner, no matter how many challengers there are. Hopefully
both horses came home safe without injury to fight again another day.
A hot, hot, hot race make no mistake about that.
2.40: Feature Race Ascot
WIN: Annie Power (IRE) 5 10-11 partner Ruby Walsh Team Mullins
RP Rating 168. 8-13f
2nd: Zarkandar (IRE) 6 11-8 partner Daryl Jacob trainer Paul Nicholls for Potensis Limited and Chris Giles RP Rating 171. 15-8.
Zarkandar put up a brave fight in soft dead testing ground giving the winner 11lbs. Setting a strong pace throughout in that dead ground, hoping to win that way. Ruby Walsh had to ask Annie Power to give her all to get past Zarkander in the closing stages to win.

Racing Post Saturday November 23rd 2013 Page 16
"Enjoying the little things in this jumping life. "
Pic INDIA: A Visitor's Guide. Not
available at any leading bookshop this Christmas.
Yes,
yes, yes now how is it that I couldn't think of that myself ...... No way did
that even enter
my head. But now you mention it David ... It's one of those - the answer was there all
the time, sort of things. I am wondering what Martin makes of it? I should
think he is sick of the sight of India by now anyway. All that
traipsing too and fro Martin had to do, a nightmare if ever there was one. And
wondering what ever became of ICE AGE ... I dread to think.
"LIFE
goes on - but apart from that things aren't too bad. First of all, there have
been the competition entries to look at, and there have been some jolly good
ones (you might want to skip the next bit and go straight to the end). ( no,
no, no certainly not) (Save the best till last, sort of stuff) (Whoops)
Second of all, there has been the usual reminder that, even on bread-and
-butter days, racing has its attractions.
"Take
Persian Herald, although no one is very keen to, judging by the absence of bids
after his two recent selling hurdle victories. It is very rare to see a horse
make the running, drop back to last place, then win, which is what Neil King's
modest but gutsy five-year-old did at Fakenham on Tuesday.
"It
must have been an unpleasant surprise for Robert McCarthy, who had cruised to
the front on Watt Broderick. But a very pleasant one for Trevor Wheelan, who
kept pumping away, doubtless with Persian Herald's performance at Leicester, the previous day in mind . At Leicester, Persian Herald was also headed and looked
beaten, only to rally to succeed.
"
Persian Herald operates near the bottom of the pyramid and will probably stay
there but, having failed to win in 19 attempts over hurdles and fences, in the
space of less than a month he has suddenly won three of his last four races. I
expect Whelan has a soft spot for him, and I expect the owners, The St Gatien Racing For Fun Partnership, do
too. I like that sort of thing. (We have noticed that you do, as well)
"Later
the same afternoon, at Lingfield, Sam Twiston-Davies, who has developed into a
very accomplished jockey, gave Young Hurricane a lovely ride to win the novice
chase.
"
Young Hurricane fell on his only previous run over fences and, at Lingfield,
after jumping the first two fences well, made a mess of the third and looked in
danger of loosing confidence.
"He
wasn't brilliant at the fourth, was hesitant at the fifth and jumped big at the
next but Twiston-Davies was patient, sympathetic made sure his mount had a
clear view of the obstacles, was decisive in presenting Young Hurricane at
them, and built his confidence.
"It
was enjoyable to watch, which is the point about run-of-the-mill midweek
jumping meetings. Often you are not watching great racehorses, although Young
Hurricane will surely improve, but humble races can still have intriguing,
engaging aspects to them. I like that, too.
"At
Wincanton on Thursday there was the
pleasure of watching Joe Knocks win on his first ride under rules, on Massena;
the pain of seeing Dave Crosse who doesn't
get many winning opportunities, fall at the last hurdle when he had only
to negotiate it to win ob Foxcub; the excitement of Paddy Brennan's survival of
a last -fence blunder and subsequent
victory on Highway High.
"Like
other sports, the more you get to know the more interesting it becomes.
"We
can all enjoy today's Betfair Chase,
which will test my suspicion that Long Run, wonderful horse that he has
been, and still only eight years old, will not recapture past glories and that
Cue Card's jumping remains a lurking hazard. It can be very good but isn't
always good, and there's a stamina question, too. Enough of that. There were
lots of entries for the competition for the most amusing title for a book by a racing figure.
Most
were sent to me, although several were for David Ashworth and a couple for
David Ashcroft. Surprisingly, there was none for David Ashford. He'll be
disappointed although comforted to know that, in a recent racecourse advert, I
appeared as Ashford in the next. But I digress. There were a fair number of
duds but some crackers, too, and it's been difficult to narrow it down to a
shortlist, let alone single out one winner. Thank you all very much. Here's the
shortlist.

TUESDAY NOVEMBER 26th 2013
In yesterday's Racing Post Jonathan Mullins reported:
" Defiant O'Leary hits back. Gigginstown
chief insists no rules have been broken over non-runners and vows to keep
making multiple declarations.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_O'Leary_(businessman
"IRELAND'S
champion owner Michael O'Leary has revealed he is willing to take the Turf Club
to court if it does not overturn his appeal
against the non-runner penalty dished out by Fairyhouse stewards last
week.
"The Ryanair boss, who runs his horses under the Gigginstown
House Stud banner, also vowed to continue his policy of making multiple
declarations. You would swear we are some bunch of spivs running around
organising betting coups, " said O'Leary. "We don't punt our horses,
I have no interest in that, this is my hobby and I want to make three things
very clear: there's no Turf Club investigation; we've broken no rules; and
we're appealing the decision of the Fairyhouse stewards and intend to have it
overturned. If we don't get it overturned at the Turf Club we'll go to the
High Court. "
IN TODAY'S RACING POST
GIGGINSTOWN APPEAL TO BE HEARED ON MONDAY
MICHAEL O'LEARY is absolutely within his rights to fight
for the rights of his racehorses in training. Taking racehorses
entered to run, out of races due to going changes and false racecourse going
reports. No trainer or owner wants to be left with a stable yard full of broken
down racehorses unable to run anywhere due to injuries sustained racing on
unsuitable ground surfaces.
The
problem O'Leary faces is the bloodhorse illiteracy of Turf Club
officials and the bloodhorse illiteracy of High Court Judges. Totally
incompetent as to any and all true Equus Zone practices.
O'LEARY will
not get a fair hearing from either of these parties. This is an evil and
unacceptable situation for O'LEARY to be placed in by the people at both these top tables of power. Global horseracing at present is being run without any true Equus Rules Of Horseracing. Meaning that all horseracing is being run without any racehorses rights and needs taken into consideration at all.
British and Global
horseracing at present is being run without any true Equus Rules of
Horseracing at all. None, either in Britain or
anywhere else on the global horseracing stage worldwide. There are no true. Equus Zone Rules Of Horseracing anywhere in
the world at present either at home, or away. This means that all racehorses and all those who work
with racehorses every day at the dangerous sharp end are being denied all their human rights and needs.
How are British and Global jockeys expected to ride within True Equus Rules of Horseracing when there are none? What would happen at Wimbledon Tennis Tournament 2014 if there are to be no true British Global Tennis Rules?
Lord Howard last week in the Racing Post had this to say:
Margaret Clarke Turfcall Comment
Britain must lead world in Equine welfare - Howard
Racing
Post Friday November 15th 2013 p9
"BRITISH RACING has a
responsibility to lead the world in terms of equine welfare and drug testing,
according to Lord Howard, chairman of the Arena Racing Company and former
leader of the Conservative Party, writes
Peter Scargill.
JMC: Yes , but not in
the wrong direction, by the wrong people as over the last 6 decades
and at present.
"Howard believes the recent doping scandals to hit racing
have been bad for British racing but good for the sport as a whole as
individual racing jurisdictions have started to come together on the use of
anabolic steroids in and out of training.
JMC : Howards sentiments do not ring true
here due to the fact he has served a political career himself not a horseracing
career. False leads do more harm than good.
"The comments were made by Lord Howard at the World annual
conference in London yesterday.
"He said: "The fact that modern racing started in
Britain does, I think, place a special responsibility on our authorities to take
a lead in insuring the sport is conducted with full regard for the welfare of
the horses that take part.
JMC: Yes,
absolutely. But why have the British political and horseracing governments
failed to allow top Equus standard Rules in British horseracing? And why are
there no True Global Equus Rules in place anywhere in the world this day in
2013? ? Channel 4 The Morning Line Preview on Saturday,
Nick Luck and Mick Fitzgerald took us to Jackdaws Castle the
beautiful home of Jonjo O'Neill. Jonjo
one of the greatest horseman this world and all the people in it have ever
seen. They introduced us to Johns Spirit
who that same afternoon won the feature race at Cheltenham partnered by Richie McLernon
the 2,30 Paddy Power Gold Cup Chase in
which 20 runners took part. To Mountain Tunes and to AP (Tony) McCoy Mountain
Tunes who won AP's his 4,000 winner. To date.
"The recent incident of substance abuse in
Britain, while not in itself give an encouraging sign, was nevertheless
followed by a tightening up of regulations in a number of other countries,
although not yet in all of them. JMC: A tightening up by whom exactly? The bloodhorse illiterate?
"The decision
last month of the International Equestrian Federation and International
Federation of Horseracing Authorities to come together to create the
International Horse Sports Confederation could, and hopefully will, accelerate
the rate of progress.
JMC: First of all there is a massive
backlog of BHA abusive malpractice that
is in urgent need of correction and true understanding. Like three year old allegations against
Dwyer and Mulrennan summoned back to India
By Lewis Porteous 9:52AM 18 NOV 2013
JOCKEYS Martin Dwyer and Paul Mulrennan will be asked to return
to India
as Royal Western India Turf Club stewards seek an explanation from the two
jockeys regarding an alleged conversation between the pair from more than three
years ago.
This needs striking out with immediate effect. Due to the fact
that there are no True Global Equus Rules of Horseracing in place at present.
As neither have there been any over the last 6 decades. No true Sport can take
place on a global scale without The True Rules applicable
to such a Sport.
"The fact that
protecting horse welfare and maintaining strong policy are included in the key
priorities to which both bodies have signed up provide the basis for at least a
degree of optimism. "
JMC: Political and
Horseracing governments have caused such sickening devastation to so may other
peoples lives to include the horses optimism is hardly the right word here.
WHERE ARE THE BRITISH
AND GLOBAL HORSERACING INTERFERENCE RULE
PENALTIES?
For bumping and

For taking

For allowing a
horse to clip heels
For extravagant
whip action stopping other horses
For hitting
other competitors
For making moves
to stop other horses from winning
For colluding
with others to trap a competitor on the rails
For any and all
cheating to prevent another competitor from winning
For any and all
kinds of dirty, and or careless riding to prevent another competitor from
winning
There have been
several incidences this Flat Turf Season which steward have ignored
Roger Charlton
trained Al Kazeem partner James
Doyle Sandown
Park
James Doyle
dirty careless riding on AL Kazeem
allowed to kept the race.
No way should Doyle have ever been allowed to
keep this race. This race should have been awarded to Paul Hanagan riding for William Haggas. Al Kazeem should have been disqualified. Al Kazeem did not win on merit. He was allowed to keep this race in error due to bloodhorse illiterate stewards malpractice.
Camelot partner Joseph O'Brien won the Triple Crown fair and square due to what should have been a Penalty: Disqualification .
Sky Lantern partner Richard Hughes should have won on a Penalty: Disqualification.
Any riding that
interferes with any other competitors chances of winning. Either on purpose or
by mistake Out, Out, Out Penalty: Disqualification.

BALDING back to front C4's Hennessy meeting.
"CLARE
BALDING returns to front Channel's 4's coverage of the Hennessy meeting at Newbury
having been conspicuous by her absence for the last five Saturdays, writes
Graham Green.
"Despite
being widely billed as the face of Channel 4 Racing, viewers have not seen
Balding in her present role since Qipco Champions Day at Ascot on October 19,
and she missed both Cheltenham's Open meeting and Saturday's Betfair Chase fixture at Haydock Park
as the jump season moved into top gear.
"Balding's
broadcasting commitments have most recently been augmented by a BT Sport show
on which she chatted with Tony McCoy and Sir Ben Ainslie and this Sunday she
appears on Desert Island Disks.
"Speaking
yesterday, Balding said: I am contracted by Channel 4 to work for 40 days a year
and they split them as they see fit, so I wasn't booked last weekend, I am
this week-end. Also I have been away on holiday since Champions Day.
"She
added: "I am very much looking forward to Saturday. I used to do the
Hennessy in the BBC days and Newbury is my local course. My grandmother
Priscilla Hastings was chairman there and then president, so for me it is an
important day. I used to go as a child. "
The
presenter will also be behind the microphone for Channel 4's Christmas
highlight, the William Hill King George VI Chase at Kempton Park
on Boxing Day.
"Balding
is giving nothing away about her choice of eight records were she to find
herself stranded on a desert island.
"She
said: "I don't know if there will be any surprises, but I feel very proud
to have been invited to be on the program. I think Sir Peter O'Sullivan has
done it, but I don't think many other racing people have. "
