this morning where the big formidable chase fences and plenty of them loom
large, all will take some jumping this afternoon, make no mistake about that. Barry is stable
jockey to champion trainer Nicky Henderson.
As well we
have a skeleton showing all the broken bones that Barry has suffered to date in his
riding career. Together with a cardboard cut out of A P McCoy
(equus champion jump
jockey) who is so close to his target aim to riding 4,000 (four thousand winners).

"Before
dark Nicky Henderson will know more about the shape of the Gold Cup challenge
to reigning champion Bobs Worth, with Down Royal and Wetherby his focus. After
the sun sets in Europe we will find out which
of our travelling stars can rise over the Californian mountains above Santa
Anita. Which yesterday afternoon played host to this 10.50 race, and the
amazing performance of two year old
filly CHRISELLIAM partner RICHARD HUGHES that thrilled us all, especially Willie Carson, Charles Hills
"Sizing
Europe has already climbed to the top of the
two-mile chasers' hill and his star has shone brightly since his Arkle victory
three years ago. He has won just about every Grade 1 chase over the minimum
trip in Britain and Ireland

Royal's JNwine.com Champion Chase has eluded him twice in testing ground, but
conditions are far drier today for his third attempt and with age has come wisdom; he is lower over fences and
more at ease in the slow lane.
"Victory
today against First Lieutenant and Kauto Stone would put him in an elite category,
one that contains the duel Gold Cup hero Kauto Star, who outpointed him at Down
Royal in 2010, and 1998 Champion Chase star One Man. It would make him one of
few chasers to have won at the highest level over two miles and three miles.
"At
Wetherby the bet365 Charlie Hall Chase hosts the return of Bobs Worth's
stablemate Long Run, piloted by amateur Sam Waley- Cohen who has beaten the
professionals in two King Georges and a Gold Cup on the eight- year-old ,
"At
Wetherby Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle winner At Fishers Cross steps out on
the road to the World Hurdle for which he is challenging the astounding Big
Bucks' for favouritism. (At Fishers
Cross has been injured so will not be challenging here today) 12 year old Tidal
Bay, last seen winning the Lexus Chase in one of the most dramatic finishes of
last season. Solwit has had four times as many hurdle outings and has won two
Morgiana Hurdles, an Aintree Hurdle, a
Liverpool Hurdle, an Irish Champion Hurdle and a World Hurdle. He is nine,
while Big Buck's is just a year older and holds the record for the number of
consecutive jumps wins. What he hasn't won is easier to list.
"After
digesting that - and your supper - the
gates open at Santa Anita. You could call it a return leg of Royal Ascot as Swinley
Bottom is as alien to US-trained horses as dirt is to ours. There is a
significant home advantage but that doesn't mean the Europeans won't win.
"Irish
Champion Stakes winner The Fugue goes at 10.22 in the Breeders' Cup Turf for
trainer John Gosden, who doesn't travel for the suntan. He's won the Classicm
he's won the Juvenile Turf and he has a filly in scintillating order.
