MUSINGS FROM A RETIRED RACING ENTHUSIAST

"This predictions business is so easy. Cue a Ryanair tilt and beware Classic trip-ups.
" Pic: Cue Card (above) and Australia. "

"MY EXPERIENCE with New Year resolutions has been disappointing ever since I was 18 and resolved to be better looking and have more sex.

"Resolutions tend not to last long-unsurprisingly, since they  usually involve giving up alcohol, giving up sweeties, taking up rock climbing and keeping a record of your bets. It would be much easier, and more successful, simply to resolve to eat and drink more with the aim to becoming fat.

"It's supposed to be good to have a target to aim at. Then, when asked, "Have you made any New Year resolutions? "You could reply, proudly, "Yes I've promised myself that, this year, I'll become really fat. I was fairly fat last year but I know I can be fatter. "Oh, it's 10 o'clock, would you like to join me for a cream meringue and a glass of champagne?"

"It might be easier to make resolutions for other people than for yourself. George Baker - to become shorter. Jimmy Quinn - to become taller. Kieran Fallon - to become younger. Tony McCoy - to try harder and do better. That sort of thing.

"Making predictions, for the year ahead is equally testing, although I'm pretty sure that, during 2014, no-one will say, "I wish Ryan Moore would shut up and let someone else get a
word in edgeways, " nor, "I see the Reubin brothers were racing at Chepstow and Wolverhampton again last week, " although you might hear, "Yes, evidently they're thinking of buying the towns. "

"My record with racing predictions is mixed. I was right to mock the Derby pretentions of Blushing Groom in 1977 and Rodrigo De Triano in 1992 on the grounds the previous year's leading juveniles wouldn't stay the trip. They both ran in the Derby and didn't stay the trip.

"On the other hand, I'm very grateful to Betfair for not having existed in 1986 when I predicted Dawn Run had no chance of winning the Gold Cup, nor in 1987 when predicting Maori Venture had no chance of getting round in the Grand National, leave alone winning it. I would have laid both of them. Instead I backed Wayward Lad (second) and West Tip (fourth) respectively.

"It might be worth bearing that in mind when considering the worth of my latest predictions.

"Cue Card is a magnificent chaser, but after considering this, that and the other, my view is,  it's highly unlikely he will cope well enough with the Gold Cup's extra distance and

concluding climb to win the race and is more likely to fade out of a place than win.

"The Tizzard's are clearly tempted to have a go rather than try to win the Ryanair Chase, over almost three-quarters of a mile shorter trip, for a second time. It's understandable and
even commendable. If they don't run Cue Card in the Gold Cup they'll never know how he would have fared and, if he wins the Ryanair Chase again, the question will remain unanswered.

"CUE  CARD'S presence would certainly add spice to the Gold Cup. but if I owned him (I don't) my vote would be for the Ryanair, It must feel terrific to lead in a Cheltenham Festival winner, not so terrific to unsaddle a star who has finished a tired fifth when he would have had a solid favourite's chance in a different race.

"With the field for the Champion Chase threatening to cut up badly, and Sprinter Sacre's future in doubt, Cue Card would stand a better chance of winning that than the Gold Cup. He was the only horse to give Sprinter Sacre a race in the 2012 Arkle, although 2m is clearly well short of his best trip. So, first choice Ryanair, second Champion, third Gold Cup. In practice, I expect the Tizzards to opt for either  the Ryan or Gold Cup.

"This is also the time of year for comparing  2,000 Guineas and  Derby contenders'  odds with their prospects of being suited by the distances  of the races. Australia at 4-1 to win the Derby it's overly generous but it's a lot more attractive than the 7-1 offered for Aidan O'Brien's juvenile star in the 2,000 Guineas, for which he is second Kingman.

"Australia made his mark when winning over a mile at Leopardstown in September and, by Galileo out of Ouija Board, is bred for middle distances. His very modest sister Felia Regina's sole win was over 1m 6f, and his half-brothers Aegaeus  and Voodoo Prince are middle-distance horses.

"If Australia is one to lay for the Guineas, Kingman, even more so, is one to lay for the Derby. Generally third favourite, on breeding your grandfather is more likely to stay the trip.
"Easy, really, 2014. "

NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS?

Perspectives? Who's?
 The British Political System?
Front Men?
 Nick Clegg and David Cameron
TEAM CONSERVATIVE ?... TEAM LIBERAL?

David Cameron's present blackmail threat to the British

 people called into question.

If   'we'  get voted in next time ... 'we''...  will do this that and the other.   Who does David Cameron mean when he say's  'we'  exactly?  He and Nick Clegg?  Surely not?  It couldn't possibly happen again could it?

What about now David Cameron?   Whilst you are still in power. Surely you don't believe that such 'Lip Service'  'Fob Offs'  are good enough, to bluff the British electorate into believing you are worth a second chance? Where does  Nick Clegg fit into all of this?

David Cameron from the outset pushed Nick Clegg into the background fast.
David Cameron's body language  shows:  " I am the great leader now, not you  Nick Clegg."

How many years are 'we' working behind the times David Cameron?
Fifty Years?
One hundred years?
Two hundred years?
Three hundred years?
Four hundred years?
Five hundred years?
A thousand years?
Two thousand years?
Ignoring Jesus Christ Super Star
BC Before Christ?
Where are you Nick Clegg?
What about now David Cameron?
Who's perspective's are running this government exactly now?

What where this present government's perspectives over the first 3 months of their active government in theory and in  practice?  From when Nick Clegg  and David Cameron were first voted in?

What exactly was on the  government's agenda to tackle during those first 3 months of government?

As there has been no true feed back of what was politically achieved or not,  as the case maybe,  during those first 3 months. No one knows for sure about anything. Not about the first 3 months. The second 3 months. The third  3 months. The last 3 months, or to  total  the first year? What about the second year?

What were the British Political Government's Perspective Achievement carried out in these first 3 months? Why were  the British  voters never provided with a list of the first 3 month  perspective, and a total over the first year?

Where is David Cameron today? Still at the hairdressers? No can't be his hairdresser was live on BBC 1 Breakfast this morning.  David Cameron paid £80.00 for his hair cut.

David Cameron's  dollies all fired out of his pram like greased lightning. The pram kicked over on top of them. Pram and all end up in a dirty ditch. Pretty little dollies they were too, all of them.  Dressed up like Barbie dolls,  pretty as a picture.

Mahmood Al Zarooni was training from a base in Britain, at Newmarket for Godolphin. He travelled Godolphin racehorses to compete in Meydan Dubai, and to many other racecourses around the world where steroid medication  is in use all the time, not as a dope but as a medication.

Should not be running British horseracing or advising other horseracing countries how to run their horseracing.

It is not Al Zarooni, or Gerard Butler who are the imposters'
it is the governments' who are the imposters.

THERE IS A BRITISH EQUUS  ZONE
But it has been left derelict due to government power abuse on going over the last 6 decades. littered with dreadful unjust punishments as these two stated here.
