DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

CHAMPIONS’ MEETING ROWLEY MILE NEWMARKET FRIDAY 15th  & SATURDAY 16th  OCTOBER 2010.

THE CESAREWITCH Trainer Ollie Pears is optimistic that My Arch can crown a superb season for his handler with victory in the £160,000 totesport.com Cesarewitch.

“Soft ground and a high draw would be ideal. He looks set for a good run and I am not surprised that he has been well supported.”

The historic two and a quarter-mile heritage handicap has been on the agenda for the talented eight-year-old all season and he warmed up for his autumn assignment with a rallying neck success in the two-mile Racing UK Sky 432 Handicap on Newmarket’s July Course on 7th August. He is currently a 10/1 chance with totesport.

“Kieren Fallon was going to be on board again but he couldn’t do 8st 4lb so Franny Norton will ride. He has never ridden him but he will be watching the DVDs and he is very much looking forward to taking the ride.

“My Arch has been very popular in the Cesarewitch market having halved in price from an initial 20/1 to his current quote of 10/1, and looks set to run a massive race for his up-and-coming handler.

The market for the totesport.com Cesarewitch is headed the Dermot Weld-trained Universal Truth, who scored in a maiden hurdle on his latest start at the Galway festival in August and is a 7/1 chance with the race sponsor. Fellow Irish challenger Admiral Barry, from the stable of Eoin Griffin, is a 9/1 chance following a comfortable victory in an amateur riders’ handicap at the Curragh on 11th September.

Entries, totesport.com Cesarewitch – sponsor’s prices: 7 Universal Truth, 9 Admiral Barry, 10 Ghimaar My Arch, 12 Manyriverstocross, Sentry Duty, 14 Bergo, Lady Eclair, Majestic Concorde, Red Cadeaux, Theola, 16 Darley Sun, Dayia, Merchant Of Dubai, Ocean’s Minstrel, Precision Break, Tasheba, 20 Ajaan, Cosmic Sun, Deauville Flyer, Hawk Mountain, Mount Helicon, Rangefinder, 25 bar. each way 1/4 1-2-3-4-

totesport spokesman George Primarolo commented: “The totesport.com Cesarewitch is always one of the big betting handicaps of the year and this year’s race will be no different. With high-class handicappers from both the top Flat and Jumps yards at the head of the market, we should be treated to another cracking renewal.

THE DEWHURST STAKES (Group 1) ROWLEY MILE NEWMARKET TURF.
Dubai Dewhurst Stakes is open to two-year-old thoroughbred colts and fillies. It is run on the Rowley Mile at Newmarket over a distance of 7 furlongs (1,408 metres)

The event was established in 1875, and it was originally known as the Dewhurst Plate. It was founded by Tom Gee, and it was named after his Dewhurst Stud in Sussex. The first four winners — Kisber, Chamant, Pilgrimage and Wheel of Fortune — all went on to win one or more of the following year's Classics.

The Dewhurst Stakes is now Britain's most prestigious event for juvenile horses. The most recent winner to subsequently achieve victory in a Classic was New Approach, the winner of the Derby in 2008. The race is now staged during Champions' Day – the second day of Newmarket's two-day Champions' Meeting.

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT
Close to the end of this Flat Racing Season, means that Flat RaceTrainers and their Teams will be getting yearlings in from the studs and the sales now. Yearlings that bring with them the promise of new dreams, fresh direction, of starting out anew.

All have so much to learn if they are to see a racecourse in 2011 as two year olds.

Highly skilled handler, riders paramount if the right support is to be provided for the ongoing daily prep direction needed, to ensure that confidence is gained through skill, not destroyed by ignorance.

Monty Roberts calls this bringing along the babies, which is exactly right.

An exciting time of the year to meet up with these beautiful colts and fillies just starting out in their lives along the racing road. With so much to learn in a relatively short time span. Futures to be allowed to develop
with confidence inspired.. A top professional rider knows at once how a two year old has been prepared, once in the saddle.
