British Global Superstar

Team (Luca) Cumani

“When you’re travelling, generally the racehorses in training have to be 100-plus rated horses, some of whom may improve further for different surfaces. Red Cadeaux, for instance, runs much better races abroad than he does here. Presvis was like that: he was a very tricky horse in many respects, difficult to ride and exercise, but fortunately he was very good travelling. He ran only once in Britain in the last two years of his career, in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes and it didn’t work. I put it down to the fact he had been on the go since January.

“You can’t predict the rate of improvement but he never ran until he was four because he was plagued by injuries at two and three – at the back end of his two-year-old career we had to geld him as he was almost savage. After that he was very good in his box and anything else-other than the cantering and work.

“He started from maidens  and then handicaps but the first time we had an inkling of how good he really might be was when he won a big handicap at Newbury by seven lengths. Ten we decided he was good enough for Dubai and he started winning there.

“He always quite enjoyed Dubai. We changed his jumpoff point every day to keep him confused. If you’d asked him to do it from the same spot every day two or three times he worked it out. But he never knew where he was supposed to start so he loved it. “

 2.00  FEATURE RACE CHELTENHAM

Sam " CAID has the talent to devour his Caviar rivals. " See page 14. Made mistake jumping managed to stay intact, pulled up after.
2:00 CHLCaspian Caviar Gold Cup (A Handicap Chase) (Grade 3) Cl1 2m5f CH4
WIN:  Niceonefrankie (GB) 8 11-5 partner Aidan Coleman Team (Venetia) Williams for Old Carthusian  Racing Society 16-1. This chase panned out to be tricky with several fallers. Ground tiring for the horses. Caid Du Berlais made bad mistake jumping fence, nearly came down. Pulled up after.

3.10: FEATURE RACE CHELTENHAM
3:10 CHLStanJames.com International Hurdle (Grade 2) Cl1 2m1f CH4

WIN: The New One (IRE) 6 11-8 partner Sam Twiston-Davies Team (Nigel) Twiston-Davies for  S Such and Cg Paletta 4-7  All Sam's wishes come true at last, after an uncertain afternoon one way and the another.
Sam Twiston-Davies partners THE NEW ONE here for his father Nigel Twiston-Davies. "He seems in good heart at home and were going there in an optimistic mood. " See page 14.

Mad Moose partnered by Dave Crosse from the same team takes his chance here as well. MOOSE is a free spirit, it will be disappointing if he can’t concentrate on the job in hand this afternoon here, it will be interesting to see if Dave Crosse can engage with him throughout on the bridle, or not as the case maybe. Don’t mess with MOUSE, or  MOUSE will mess with you. No, no, no can do this afternoon MOUSE didn't like it at all, disappointing for everyone. We see the highs and lows of horseracing in just one race. MOUSE never interfered with any other runners at all, so he doesn't deserve any punishment from government parties.

FEATURE RACE CHELTENHAM
Will be interesting to see how Rock On Ruby and Noel Fehily get on in this 5 run

WIN: Rock On Ruby (IRE) 9 10-12 partner Noel Fehily  Team (Harry) Fry, for The Festival  Goers 5-4f. Did it nicely, no problem, exciting win. Yes, yes, yes. Noel tells us what a gorgeous horse he is, always gives you his best, even when going through the pain barrier. A brave horse much loved by the Fry's. Team (Harry) Fry and Noel Fehily has been very, very ,very careful with this horse throughout his prep.
