Gentleman's Day today, smart fashion indeed, yes, yes, yes .

Beach new Leger favourite.

By Aisling Crow
RP Thursday September 10.

“BONDI BEACH was last night promoted to 2-1 joint-favourite for the Ladbrokes St Leger at Doncaster after stablemate Order Of St George drifted markedly in the betting for Saturday’s final Classic of the season.

“Trainer Aidan O’Brien has yet to finalise running plans for his three Leger possibles, but that did not prevent Order Of St George being pushed out to 4-1 third-favourite behind Bondi Beach and Great Voltigeur winner Storm The Stars, having been general 9-4 favourite yesterday morning.

“O’Brien said: “All three horses Order Of St George, Bondi Beach and Fields Of Athenry – are still in the mix and we will make decisions in the morning. “
“The ground remained good at Doncaster last night and clerk of the course Roderick Duncan said: “There is no rain forecast until Saturday and it is set to arrive at 7am and clear up after 10am. "

“Rain could scupper clash of Classic stars. "
“FEARS that the clash of Classic winners Golden Horn and Gleneagles in Saturday’s Qipco Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown could be scuppered by rain were heightened last night amid a worsening forecast as Aiden O’Brien insisted the ground would need to be quick for his dual 2,000 Guineas hero to run. Met Eireann, the Irish  National Meteorolical Service, was predicting the greater Dublin area could be hit by heavy rain on Friday evening with amounts between 20-30mm.
“O’Brien, trainer of four-time Group 1 winner Gleneagles, said it’s very hard to call. The forecast is terrible for Leopardstown, - what  can we do?
“We’ll declare in the morning and wait and see. We realise we can not declare in two places at the one time so Gleneagles can not run in France, as he will be declared for Leopardstown. You can’t be declared in two places at the one time in France. That’s the rule, what can we do? Obviously we want to go to Leapardstown.
“Gleneagles has been trained three times for three races and obviously ten furlongs is not ideal – you have no idea about the trip. He’s a fast horse, there’s no doubt he’s a genuine miler. It wouldn’t be fair to run him unless it is good or better. He would not want the top to start shifting. His action is too low, he’s too quick. “
“O’Brien said Found could run if the ground goes against Gleneagles, and added: “The ground would be a mess for Air Force Blue [in the Group 1 National Stakes] if it turns wet. ”

“Gleneagles was withdrawn from the Juddmonte International last month because of the ground description after he had bypassed a good – to soft ground description after he had bypassed a good- ground opportunity in the Sussex Stakes three weeks earlier.

“The going was yesterday good to firm at Leopardstown but a spokeswoman  for Met Eireann said: “There is a front moving across Ireland on Friday from the Atlantic with the main belt of rain scheduled to hit the east coast on Friday evening.
“Our models are predicting rainfall of 20-30mm but this isn’t set in stone. There are indications of heavy bursts of rain but the placings may change. “

“Gleneagles was yesterday one of 18 remaining in the Group 1 Prix du Moulin over a mile at Longchamp on Sunday, along with stablemates Sir Isaac Newton, War Envoy and Cougar Mountain.
“The three-year-old is a general 4-1 shot for the Irish Champion behind Free Eagle, who also likes quick ground, and favourite Golden Horn, last night a top –priced 15-8.
“The Derby and Eclipse winner is less ground dependent as is one of 11 still entered still enteredin the Group 2 Prix Niel at Longchamp, but Anthony Oppenheimer, breeder and owner of Golden Horn, said that option will not be taken up even if conditions are unsuitable at Leopardstown, He said, “The rain isn’t due until Friday or Saturday, and the forecast seems to be changing all the time. If it was a bog we’d have to consider whether to run him. If he didn’t run he would go straight to the Arc.
“Nessa Joyce, racing and operations manager at the Dublin track, said: “The outside track is good to firm and the inner track, which will be used for the Irish Champion Stakes, is good to firm, good in places.
“It is dry and settled until Friday evening and there is a lot of unpredictability about when and how much rain will arrive.
“By Friday evening the ground will probably be good to firm, maybe even firm, in many places. "

Frankie Dettori: Book of rides at Doncaster today:
1.55: Gutaifan  2 9-1 partner Frankie Dettori Team (Richard) Hannon
WIN: Gutaifan  2 9-1 partner Frankie Dettori Team (Richard) Hannon for Al Shaqab Racing 7-4f.  Racing Post Rating 126. Frankie top jockey up to now at this meeting. Frankie is riding better than ever. Hannon tells us that Gutaifan doesn't pull, and only does as much as he needs to win, that he has now won Two Group 1's to date, it is unfortunate, Hannon said: " It is inconvenient to say the least, that Shalaa is in the hand's of a very good trainer.
