“Prescott contender Moscato out to secure Cesarewitch 2015 spot.”
Racing Post Saturday September 19, 2015. Page 12
SIR MARK PRESCOTT is not among the Newmarket trainers to try
their hand at commentating today, but he will still be the provider of some
entertainment on the Rowley Mile, as topweight Moscato bids to secure his place
in the Betfred Cesarewitch on Saturday October 10 at Newmarket.
“However, Prescott will not be at the course as he is making a
rare visit to the Keenland Sales.
“The trainer said: “Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make it
to the Rowley Mile as I’m at Keenland. I don’t really like Keenland as the last
time I was there was on 9/11, but needs must.”
“Moscato, a 20-1 chance to give Prescott a coveted first win
in the main event next month, returns from a break and is set to clash with
last year’s winner Big Easy, who is treading a familiar path having finished
second in this a year ago.
“Shocks a plenty
“No favourite has won this in six previous runnings and there
have been some shocks for punters, including 20-1 chance See You And Be Seen 12
months ago.
“Age concern
“Four- year- olds have prospered, winning half of the six
runnings, which could point to the chances of Moscato, Gavlar, Rite To Reign,
Lungarno Palace, Full Day and Cotton Club.
“What they say ...
“William Butler, assistant to Sir Mark Prescott, trainer of
Moscato
“He’s back from a break and his early form was good when he
beat off five challengers at York before being done late on. The trip will be no problem as he’ll
get three miles and we’re expecting a good run.
“Philip Hobbs, trainer of Big Easy.
He’s had a nice break at
his owner’s stud and we are sticking to
the same gameplan by coming here, where he finished second a year ago.
“William
Knight, trainer of Gavlar.
“He’s been in good form on the all-weather but handles turf
just as well. He’s got more chance of staying that commentator Hugo Palmer has!
“Charlie McBride, trainer of Rite To Reign.
“He’s had a break since his last run but has won over this
trip and we’re hopeful he can run a big race. William Buick was available so we
thought we’d go for a top jockey.
“Nigel
Twiston-Davies, trainer of Sands Of Fortune
“I don’t know if he’s up to this but he seems in good order
and will certainly get the trip as he’s won over two miles five furlongs.
“David
Pipe, trainer of Low Key
“He’s done well over jumps and is effective at two miles – it depends
whether he’ll get the trip. Were on a fact- finding mission and if he were to
run well then he could have a crack at the Cesarewitch.
“Paul Henderson, trainer of Medburn Cutler.
“He’s in there with no weight and came out of his race at Chepstow
the other day in good nick, so we thought we’d give it a go.
