“Double dose of confusion from Doncaster to Dubai. "

"Taking a closer adventure into Global Horseracing"

Added tricky issues the language barrier for global horseracing people.
The racehorses speak their own language no matter from which country they came or come  from that is one blessing. The problem being the other way around, there are only a few people  who can read and understand the language of the horse. It will be good if people respond by taking notice to learn what the language of the horse is all about.

Hokko Tarumae in the World Cup. As for the rest of the field …

“What’s Kunihide Matsuda like as a trainer? And Hideaki Miyuki as a jockey? I ask because the US isn’t represented this year and the Japanese are good at horseracing and it makes things a lot easier if you narrow things down by nationality.

Japanese double at World Cup « Racing News « The Informant

“Three  years ago Victoire Pisa won the Dubai World Cup for Japan, trained by Katsuhiko Sumii.  It was the same Summi who trained Delta Blues to win the Melbourne Cup. He must be pretty good but he hasn’t got a runner in this year’s World Cup; maybe he’ll win the Dubai Sheema Classic with Denim And Ruby.

“Then there was Agnus World, who on the 1999 Prix de l’Abbaye and 2000 July Cup for Hideyuki Mori, and those Japanise-trained horses who were runner up in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe – El Condor Pasa in 1999, Nakayama Festa in 2010 and Orfevre, in 2012 and again last year.

“Longchamp is a lot further from Tokyo than Meydan.  If the Japanese can do so well in France, they should do even better in Dubai (this, granted, may not be a flawless argument) .

“Yoshitaka Ninomiya trained both El Condor Pasa and Nakayama Festa, while Yasutoshi Ikee trained Orfevre. Neither Ninomiya nor Ikee have got runners at Meydan today so, if Japan is to win the World Cup again, it’s down to Matsuda with Belshazzar and Katsuichi Nishiura with Hokko Tarumea.

“It would be an exaggeration to say I am familiar with Matsuda and Matsuda and Nishiura or, indeed, with Belshazzar and Hokko Tarumea. To be honest (a pointless expression) (Is it?) (perhaps it is a saying all true bloodhorse literate horsemen have come to use, due to the fact that all the bloodhorse illiterate (95 per cent of all the people in the world) think that anything and anyone to do with horseracing is a crook  like what the British political, legal and horseracing government think  as they dish out their dark age punishments on innocent people. Factually the estimated 95 per cent of all the people in the world that are bloodhorse illiterate.

I’ve never heard of any of them. I should have, because Belshazzar was declared the best dirt horse in Japan after winning the Japan Cup Dirt in December, while Hokko Tarumea has won four Grade 1 races, all on dirt. Who knows how they’ll cope with Tapeta? They are reported to have worked well on it but horses about to compete in a  big race on an unfamiliar surface are rarely said to have worked badly.

“Perhaps I should spend more time studying the form at Hanshin and Tokyo and less time pondering novice hurdles at Stratford and Uttoxeter. Still, better late than never. A bit of homework tells me that  (what does the horse tell you?)  taking various things into account, Beltshazzar is the one to be on. That’s the one to be on. That’s just among the two Japanese runners. Obviously, I’ve no idea about the others.
(really?)  Best not to risk any of your hard earned cash on any horserace then. Observance is the name of the  "game"  horseracing provides. Who are the people behind each and every racehorse?  That is what determines the outcome of all horseraces. CH4 Emma Spencer in Dubai for the races introduced us to many personalities once the security scare was sorted out. Willie Mullins, Ed Dunlop, William Haggas thrilled to bits that his horse Mukhadram  and Paul Hanagan came second in the World Cup at 14-1  to pick up a prize in  dollars  of

£1, 204, 816. 28.  Mukhadram and Paul Hanagan  who got so badly mugged by interference  from  Al Kazeem  partner James Doyle in the  Coral Eclipse at Sandown  Park with the bloodhorse illiterate stewards  not being able to realise how dangerous the stunt pulled by Doyle to deny Mukhadram this race was.

Charlton has Al Kazeem ready for Eclipse Stakes at Sandown ...

“GOING by names, Ruler Of The World deserves to be a strong favourite, while Ron The Greek somehow lacks the grandeur appropriate to the winner of the most valuable race in the world. On the other hand, the horse was named after Ron Skrumbellos, a friend of breeder Jack T Hammer. Ron The Greek gave inspiration to Skrumbellos while he was fighting cancer.

“To be honest (see above), I’ve no idea about the Lincoln, either. There was a time when I’d happily plough my way through the form for the Lincoln. It meant that my losers were well-informed losers, defeated by a flaw in the form book     …….

“Looking down a list of Lincoln winners, I think the last time I backed one was in 1978, when Captain’s Wings won. That was the year when the race was run on the round course in a dramatic attempt ton counteract the extreme bias on Doncaster’s straight mile.

“Amazingly, during the previous five years, of the 15 horses who finished in the first three, only three were drawn lower than 20. The field sizes varied from 24 to 26. The Hertford must have performed wonders to win in 1976 when drawn 14.  Between 1973 and 1977 only one horse drawn lower managed to finish in the first four.

“In  1973, after Bronze Hill won at 50-1, drawn 22 of 26, with the second and third drawn 21 and 24, the Times suggested “the race would be a fairer test if it was run on the round course” .  Four years later, after Blustery won from stall 24, followed by horses drawn 23, 25 and 20 in a field of 26, The Times described the outcome as  “a mockery” and again urged the authorities to move the Lincoln to the round course.

“Captain’s Wings was drawn 6. The following year, back on the straight mile, the first three were drawn 15, 22 and 23. It was grossly unfair but I missed that draw bias because at least you knew where you were. Luckily there was no self-certification. “
