Bogart
plays starring role
1 Bogart (N Callan)
7-1
2 Goldream (J P Spencer) 9-1
3 Face The Problem (J Doyle) 16-1
2 Goldream (J P Spencer) 9-1
3 Face The Problem (J Doyle) 16-1
Bogart returned to winning form
for the first time in nearly two years in the Symphony Group Stakes at York yesterday.
Kevin Ryan's four-year-old had looked
in the process of running a big race on his last visit to the Knavesmire when
his saddle slipped and Amy Ryan, daughter of the Hambleton handler, took a
crashing fall. Shown live CH4 Amy fired off, tossed and turned like a rag doll,
amongst the flying hooves of the other runners. Amy spoke to Clare Balding
yesterday afternoon at York ,
saying her shoulder injury was healing.
Neil Callan took over in the plate this
day and the 7-1 chance was never far from the pace against the rail. Goldream
challenged on the far side, along with Face The Problem down the centre, but
Bogart won by three-quarters of a length from the former. The well-backed 4-1
favourite Above Standard was unplaced.
Callan
said: "I'm the lucky one as this should be Amy Ryan's ride. He's gutsy and
has got loads of speed. I let him stretch from two (furlongs) out and he just
kept sticking his neck out."
Amy's
friend Injured jockey Brian Toomey to start rehab
14 Aug 2013 - The injured jockey will
begin a rehabilitation programme after moving hospitals to be closer to friends.
